Maybe the title is a massive spoiler - sorry for that - but I really want to be honest with you guys! I ordered this Soft Matte Lip Cream by NYX in the shade Buenos Aires because these lip creams have had so much great reviews flying around on the interwebs. But I had to be adventurous and pick up a shade that I normally don't wear and wasn't as hyped up as the other shades.
At first glance this may look good on me, but the camera actually makes it look better than it actually does. It actually looks pretty bad on my lips. My lips aren't terribly flakey or anything (when I take care of them) but this lip cream just emphasises every single crack, flake or anything that's not smooth and buttery on my lips.
This may be because I've got rather pigmented lips, but I don't want lipsticks, lip creams etc. to discriminate people who have more pigmented lips than others. And mine aren't crazy pigmented, they're just noticable.
Ignoring the fact that this shade doesn't really suit me and that my lips look like a desert, I still want to talk about the wear. I know, the product itself doesn't really claim to be longwearing, but all the youtubers and bloggers that I've read/watched reviews from told me nothing but great things about the longevity of these lip creams. Maybe it's just because I'm someone who presses her lips together too often or drinks a lot of water (which is actually a good thing, you know), but this didn't stay on my lips for even two hours.
So... I'm not on the soft matte lip cream hype train yet. I wanted to try out some other shades, but now that I've had this experience, I'm rather hesistant about it... But maybe the darker shades are better? If you've got any experience with those, please let me know!
